BSN, RN Candidate

Academic Work & Projects

Deeply committed to understanding the systemic factors that impact patient care and implementing evidence-based solutions at the bedside.

Quality Improvement: Inpatient Fall Prevention

Collaborated on a comprehensive research project identifying evidence-based interventions to reduce patient falls in the inpatient setting. Synthesized peer-reviewed literature to recommend actionable, practical safety protocols for nursing staff to implement on acute care units.

Bioethics & Healthcare Policy (OBBBA)

Developed and delivered a detailed presentation analyzing the ethical implications of Medicaid work requirements under the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (OBBBA). Explored how policy shifts directly impact healthcare access and equity for historically underserved populations.

The Effect of Nurse Driven Early Mobility Protocol

Conducted a comprehensive literature review systematically evaluating peer-reviewed studies based on methodology, sampling, research findings, and study limitations to improve patient outcomes. This evidence-based research project synthesized clinical data to address the following PICOT question:

In mechanically ventilated adult patients in the ICU (P), does the implementation of a nurse-driven early mobility protocol (I) compared to standard care without a specific mobility algorithm (C) decrease ICU length of stay (O) over a 12-week implementation period (T)?

Community Health Needs Assessment: Monrovia Windshield Survey

Collaborated on a comprehensive public health assessment of Monrovia, CA, analyzing community demographics, socioeconomic disparities, and environmental health risks. Formulated evidence-based community diagnoses and designed targeted DPIE (Diagnosis, Planning, Implementation, Evaluation) interventions aligned with Healthy People 2030 goals to address systemic issues such as coronary heart disease, mental health access, and fall prevention.

Public Health Education: Airborne Communicable Diseases

Co-developed a comprehensive community health presentation focusing on the epidemiology, transmission, and clinical management of Rubella, Rubeola, Mumps, and Varicella. Outlined the critical role of public health nurses in disease surveillance, outbreak contact tracing, and community vaccination education.

The Nursing Imperative: Policy for Black Maternal Health Equity

Authored a comprehensive policy paper analyzing the ethical imperatives and structural dynamics driving the Black maternal health crisis in the U.S. Evaluated the intersection of systemic racism, implicit bias, and policy failures. Proposed targeted nursing advocacy strategies, respectful care frameworks, and legislative actions, such as Medicaid expansion and the Momnibus Act, aligned with the ANA Code of Ethics to promote birth justice.

2026 APU Research Symposium — ELM Category Winner

Postpartum Depression: A Literature Review of Socioeconomic, Cultural, and Structural Barriers

Co-authored an award-winning literature review exploring how structural socioeconomic and cultural forces dictate the prevalence, recognition, and treatment trajectories of postpartum depression. Synthesized qualitative and quantitative data to highlight the intersection of mental health and social justice, emphasizing the critical need for culturally competent care, universal screening, and nurse-led early intervention strategies. Presented findings via poster board and public speech to faculty and peers.
